The Renovo Life Small Bone Nails are machined from implant-grade stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish to facilitate post-operative removal if desired. A triangular shaft cross-section promotes rotational stability. Available in 2.5mm, 3.5mm, or 4.5mm sizes; all are 150mm long. The 3.5mm and 4.5mm nails are cannulated.
Indicated for fixation of fractures where the canal is narrow or flexibility of the implant is paramount, including the fibula, radius, and ulna, upper extremity fractures in all patients and lower extremity fractures in small-stature patients. This system is also intended to treat metaphyseal and epiphyseal fractures, such as radial neck fractures and is intended for fixation of small long bones, such as carpal and tarsal bones.
A choice of one or two lateral-medial holes allows for distal tibiofibular syndesmosis when used for ankle fracture fixation. The slotted shape of these holes enables up to 45° of superior-inferior angulation of a 2.0mm screw. The anterior-posterior holes accept 3.5mm cannulated screws.
Accompanying instrumentation includes a modular targeting guide, T-handle reamers from 2.0mm to 5.0mm, and a 5.5mm cannulated drill to open the intramedullary canal proximally for the nail's proximal barrel.
